13 for 2013

I have been reading so many inspiring posts lately on people's goals and aspirations for the year ahead. I always write myself a list of 'resolutions', but sadly, I rarely see them through the year. This year, I have tried to create manageable goals that I can stick to, and hopefully achieve something by this time next year.

1) Be a minimalist.
Okay, I admit it, I'm a hoarder. I keep everything, even when it is old and unusable, I still can't
seem to throw it away. My cupboard (and drawers, and any available floor space) is full of clothes I don't wear, so this year, I am going to sell or donate anything I don't wear or use regularly. I do not believe I should hold on
to stuff I don't use when someone out there might be in need of it.
2) Launch craft business.
More on this to come, ladies and gentlemen! This goal is actually underway, watch this space!
3) Get a real job.
This has been a tricky one, as with uni work and the work placements that are a part of the course, I have struggled I haven't been able to commit to regularly be available at the same time. However, at the end of the year in June, I am going to try to work full time until the course starts up again in October.
4) Read 20 books.
It doesn't sound like a lot to a reader, which I used to be able to call myself, but by the time life has got in the way, I am too tired to read! I love reading though, and so am making a conscious effort to keep this up. I am so far on my 3rd.
5) Walk at least once a week.
I technically walk every day to get where I want to be, but this goal means I actually enjoy my walks, and go somewhere for a long walk that is good for the body and soul. It would be a shame to live so close to the beach and not regularly take advantage of that!
6) Sort diet/eat clean.
I have a number of food intolerances, so finding food I both like and can eat can prove to be difficult. I end up eating loads of rubbish purely because its quick or easy. This isn't healthy and doesn't exactly make me feel good, so this year I am going to write a proper diet plan and stick to it, to ensure I eat what I need and what is good for me.
7) Write more.
Blogs, letters, diaries, anything to keep my brain working and creativity flowing! This includes snail mail, as who doesn't love receiving and sending old fashioned letters.
8) Be awesome everyday!
Self explanatory really! Just a reminder to be myself and be and do what I want to do, not what others may think I am, or to do what I think other people want me to do.
9) Play more music.
I play piano, clarinet and sing in the shower, but like reading, when I am busy, these things sadly drop to the bottom of my list of priorities. I hope this year to play more, therefore enjoy it more, and hopefully improve!
10) Bake more.
Yet another thing I enjoy but run out of time for, so this year I will bake more, as nothing makes people happier than baked treats!
11) Spend less - save more.
I need to stop doing spur of the moment splurges on things I really don't need. This year, I am only going to spend money on the things I really need to, and save for the more fun and more important things in life.
12) Get out of bed and live more.
As lame and boring as it sounds, I spend a lot of time in bed. Not necessarily sleeping, but surfing the internet or watching old sitcoms on Netflix. I realise this perhaps isn't the most productive way to spend my time, so this year I will spend less time doing nothing, and focus more on getting out and seeing the world.
13) Take more pictures.
This is usually on my list, as while I am normally never far from my camera, I often forget to use it! This year I will try my best to take more pictures to record the lovely things in life!

Thanks for reading, I'd love to hear any goals you've set for the year ahead, please share in a comment below and I'll have a read :)
much love,
