day in pictures: a 'me' day

Yesterday I woke up to a bad day. I don't know why, but I was in a bad mood, and did not feel good. It may have been something to do with the contact lens that split in my eye the night before (not fun) followed by somehow stupidly getting ground black pepper in the same eye (even less fun), but I may have just been generally grumpy. This isn't good, and I had to fix it. One of my goals for 2013 was to be awesome everyday, and there was no way I could do this while being grouchy by myself at home. So I packed my bag with all I needed for a 'me' kinda day and set off for a walk.
'Me' items include: my comfy nikes for walking/ kindle for reading/ tape measure (cause you never know when that will come in handy! I was planning on exploring the flea markets too, and you never know when you might come across cheap and awesome furniture!)/ lip balm, because you can't be happy without soft lips/ telephone for talking/ sunglasses for seeing/ laptop for general laptoppy things.
And lo and behold, Brighton was enjoying a beautiful sunny spring day! How I could be grumpy when the sun is shining is beyond me! I love this pair of shoes on the phone wire. It's a shame someone lost them, but they look pretty cool if you ask me.
The second pair of hanging shoes, the next street over. Plus, some lovely painted advertising for one of my favourite food shops.
Brighton was being very bright and colourful. I love this wall.
And these ones. I can't stand graffiti when someone has scrawled their name onto a wall, but whole building sized pieces of art amaze me, I wish more places looked like this!
The lovely blue roof of the Brighton Dome
Brighton Wheel on the seafront.
I went for a lovely stroll around the town and had a wander in some of the awesome flea markets Brighton has to offer. Sadly they all have big 'no photography' signs so I can't show you, but I would recommend a wander around if you are ever in this part of the world! After a walk, no 'me' day is complete without a stop at Starbucks for a spot of reading. I am currently reading The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger, and it is rather good so far!
I picked up these candles and the vase while I was out, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to show off my newly tidied bedside table. I love the daffodils, a lovely symbol that springtime is on the way. I'm a sucker for candles too, I really don't need any more but couldn't say no to these two mini pillar candles and the china tray they are on, all at a pound each, absolute bargain!
