Nars - Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina - £17.50
I finally caved and bought my first product from Nars! After searching the blogosphere high and low for the best rated long lasting lip product I could find, I settled on the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. I had been after a natural looking lip shade that would really last for those days, mostly work days, where I just wouldn't have the time to reapply. I popped into Space NK where I have to say, the staff were so helpful and rather lovely. They helped me pick out the right shade, and were so nice when I tried (and retried, and retried) multiple shades to find the right one. I settled on Bettina, a warm, blush pink, which for me works out as the perfect 'your lips but better' shade. I don't usually use pencils so wasn't sure what to expect, but this chunky pencil makes application so easy. The end is small enough for precision lining, but the pencil is chunky enough to quickly and easily fill in colour. The texture is soft and glossy, and applies like butter, but quickly dries to a matte finish. Although it does dry, it is not at all drying, but if you're worried, apply some balm before use.
Now, onto the longevity. I applied at 7.30 am, and first noticed a change from my normal routine when I had a coffee and left no lip colour on the cup. By lunchtime it was still going strong, and in the evening when I got home, although there was some wear and fading, the outline was still there and blended beautifully into my natural lip colour. For me this is the perfect daily wear lip colour, and a product I have absolutely fallen in love with! I've got my eye on Red Square next, and can't wait to try out some of the bolder colours in the range!
