Our Christmas Cake: The Snowman and The Snowdog
Hello all! I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas, and a good few days rest! We did everything in a slightly unusual order this year as my father was away with work for Christmas day, so we had ours on the 27th, and so only got around to decorating the cake yesterday. My mother made a fantastically huge fruit cake earlier in the month and then very kindly handed it over to me to decorate. We covered it in marzipan and iced it with plain white icing, giving me a beautiful, clean white canvas to get decorating. We sat down and watched The Snowman and The Snowdog for the first time the other day. I've been brought up watching The Snowman every year and was a little apprehensive about the sequel, worried it wouldn't match up to the stunning piece of animation that is the original. Having said that, we absolutely loved it and I fell in love with the cute little sock eared puppy, and knew they just had to go on top of our cake this year! I went for trees to line the edge of the cake, reminiscent of the iconic 'walking in the air' scene from the film. The snowman and his dog are made out of white icing, with green icing for the accessories and other colours painted on by splodging food colouring with a cocktail stick, and I thought they turned out rather well! What was on your Christmas Cake this year?
