Colour Crush Shine Lipstick ℅ The Body Shop
Fuchsia Flirt, Sunset Romance and Magenta Be Rouge (l-r)
I mentioned recently there were a lot of fabulous new releases coming out of The Body Shop recently. Well this one is perhaps my favourite! These three little beauties appeared through my door recently, and as a huge fan of the original Colour Crush Lipstick, I was really excited to try them out. When I opened them up, I'll admit I was a little sceptical about the colours at first. Other than recently branched out into reds, I always tend to stick to nude and more natural colours, always getting a bit scared off by pinks, and hiding in the corner from fuchsias and magentas! I powered through anyway and set off testing these three new shades, and had a eureka moment! Completely unexpectedly, it turns out that hot pink is actually my colour. I've actually been wearing Magenta Be Rouge daily since. It is such a gorgeous shade, and strangely flattering to my skintone. The other two shades are beautiful too, Sunset Romance being a warm, peachy coral, and Fuchsia Flirt being a slightly less bright, but still gorgeous pink. In lipstick form, they are a little scary looking, being so vibrant in shade, but don't let this put you off if you're not used to wearing these colours. One light application gives the effect of a lightly pigmented gloss, with a beautiful shine to it. Layering up then builds the colour to the bright tones you see above, keeping the high gloss shine, to create as bold a shade as you feel like wearing. These are the perfect lipsticks for easing yourself gently into bright colours, and would really recommend them if you fancy branching out slightly outside of your comfort zone, but aren't quite ready to go full-fluro yet!
The texture is very soft and buttery when applied, looking almost matte in stick form but melting into a gorgeous shine when applied. Not as thick as a gloss, the shine is more like that of a rich balm, while being long lasting. Even after the shine has worn off, for example after a big meal, the pigment stays locked in, for a long lasting colour. These three gorgeous lippys are available from April 14th, so keep an eye out for them in store and online!
