The Five Minute Face

IMG_1945
I don't know about you, but for me, when it comes to early mornings, I'll stay in bed for as long as I possibly can, thank you very much! It got to a point that I'd forgo makeup just for an extra 10 minutes on particularly early starts, but that resulted in friends and coworkers asking me the dreaded "Are you okay?" with really concerned looks on their faces. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with going makeup free, I think everyone should give it a go once in a while, but I personally, with very fair skin, look particularly translucent and tired without a little bit of colour. I also like wearing makeup, so keeping it in my routine was fairly important to me. It took a bit of changing around and getting used to, but I eventually got myself into a routine where I could get myself ready in 5 minutes, including a quick hair brush and just a little bit of makeup. I'm no expert whatsoever on makeup 'looks' but thought I'd share this one, just since it helped speed up my day, and left me feeling more fresh-faced and glowy than going bare!

For a super quick base, my go-to favourite product is still Maybelline's Dream Pure BB Cream. Formulated for blemish prone skin, it's great at calming redness on a bad skin day too. I apply this with my fingers and blend in with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. Keeping it super simple, the only other face product I use is Nars' magical Orgasm Blush, the perfect natural looking flush, and I literally sweep this over my cheeks once. I fill in my brows with this 'Brows That' kit by Seventeen, a freebie from purchase recently, but one I'd definitely recommend, the shade is just perfect for lighter hair that's in between brown and blonde. I then popped a quick swish of this Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Oh, Honey ℅ The Body Shop, which does a fab job at brightening the eyes. I finish it off with a bit of mascara (can't go wrong with Great Lash) and a nude lipstick, a favourite of mine being Nevada by Topshop.

This takes me under 5 minutes, and creates a really natural looking, soft and healthy look. Some days I'd add a bit of concealer, or eyeliner, but even so it is super quick, allowing you that precious few minutes extra in bed!
