On a recent rummage through my beauty stash, I noticed there was an ingredient popping up again and again. I've always been a fan of Chamomile in tea form, especially for having a little moment of calm after a stressful situation, or a busy day, but didn't realise it featured so heavily in my beauty routine. I realised that four of my favourite, most used products featured Chamomile as a main ingredient. Thanks to the plant's calming and soothing nature, it works so well as a cleanser, both for the skin and hair.
My go-to shampoo and conditioner set has been the original Herbal Essences duo for quite some time now, since it popped back on the shelves. It gives a really deep cleanse whilst leaving my hair soft and smooth, and smells absolutely delicious in the process. My top three cleansers are all chamomile based too, the ever iconic Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish, the fairly magical Camomile Cleansing Oil, and the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, both from The Body Shop. Although all three are very different products with very different consistencies, all feature the same properties, efficient cleansing while softening skin and soothing redness, thanks to that magic ingredient.
As I mentioned, I'm a big Chamomile Tea fan too. If you're looking for classic, fresh tea, I'd recommend teapigs Chamomile Flowers, which comes in a lovely silky 'tea temple' for an optimum cup of tea. For an evening treat, I love Twinings' Camomile and Honey, with an added sweetness that makes for a lovely way to wind down in the evenings. For a blissful tea sensation, try Bluebird Tea Co's crazy blend Dozy Girl, a loose leaf tea featuring whole chamomile flowers along with a flourish of other brightly coloured petals.
