Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser ℅ Escentual
So you've probably heard me mention a hundred times that I have blemish prone skin and spots. Luckily, they've been fairly minimal lately but still have the habit of popping up the morning where I have to go somewhere and do something important. I have combination skin that almost seems to change on a daily basis, I have very oily patches but also patches that get so dry they get flakey, so it often feels like I can't win when it comes to skincare. I've tried most blemish treatments available, and I have found some excellent ones (see my review of La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo +) but have never really had much luck in terms of balancing treatments, until this wonderful little cleanser came into my life.
First glances, Eucerin packaging does look fairly medical and intense, but this has turned out to be one of the most gentle cleansers I've ever encountered. Dermatologically tested and designed to reduce excess sebum (the goop* that causes spots in the first place), it is scent and soap free so comfortable and safe to use even on serious acne. The product itself is a clear, quite thick gel, almost jelly like, and easy to pop onto your hands with an easily squeezable tube. After wetting your face you massage it in, it does create a little bit of lathe but nothing too frothy or foamy. It does an excellent job at removing makeup too, though thanks to the clever spot-fighting ingredients, it's probably not that sensible to rub into your eyelashes. As a cleanser, I absolutely love it. It's perfect for a quick cleanse, morning or evening, though thanks to the amazing clean feeling it creates, it makes me want to wash my face even more often. My skin feels smooth and completely squeaky-clean after use, which is a lovely feeling after a long day.
I have been using it for two weeks now and noticed a huge difference in terms of my skin. Post use, it feels like it's cleaned away any excess oil, but two weeks on and it feels like it's reduced it considerably to the point of my skin feeling almost balanced. It hasn't dried my dry patches out either, something that I've had trouble with with oil-reducing products in the past. I've had far fewer of those nasty under the skin congested bumps that have plagued my forehead and chin for months. My problem areas (t-zone and sides of my face - temples down to neck) don't feel oily to the touch at all, and as a result have noticed my makeup staying put for longer. I have been following up the cleanser with Eucerin's Even Brighter Day Cream, and the combination of the two has left me with the most smooth, even toned skin I've had in a very long time! I have been so impressed with my first foray into skincare by Eucerin, and can see it staying as a firm part of my routine!
