Over the weekend, I was very kindly invited by the lovely people at Joe Blogs to a Photography Workshop in Brighton with Currys and a talented local photographer Dade Freeman. You might have noticed that photography is a bit of a hobby of mine, I'm rarely seen without a camera in hand and I'm always that annoying person that's slowing everyone else down due to having to stop and photograph something. I'm by no means an expert though, I've had a bit of tuition from my Dad but the rest of my knowledge is self taught thanks to practise and the magic of the internet. Therefore I was really excited to hear about this workshop, and keen to further my knowledge with the help of an expert!
Dade explained the basics, the 'exposure triangle' of aperture, ISO and shutter speed, and a brief look into the modes on your SLR. We had a look at some of his own photos and how different setting altered the images, which was really fascinating to see. After a good old natter with my local lovely ladies, a bite to eat and a few more tips from Dade, we headed out onto the streets of Brighton to test out our skills and take part in a little challenge. Being a beautiful sunny day, we all gravitated straight towards the beach, cameras at the ready!
I was actually really pleased with how some of my shots came out, I've featured my favourites in the post above, I especially love number 2, Laura and Lauren concentrating hard while Lyndsay demonstrates how NOT to stand as a photographer! I'd love to hear what you think, and also if you have any photography tips to share!
I just want to say a huge thank you to Dade, Currys and Joe Blogs for such a lovely day!
