Canon Ixus 265 HS Digital Camera

Following on from my recent post about Blogging & Photography, I had quite a few questions on here and on instagram about my compact camera, so thought I'd give it a full review. I bought this camera for times when carrying my SLR just isn't practical. As much as I love it, it's just too bulky and heavy to take on some adventures, so I was after something small enough to pop in your pocket. I decided to stick with a Canon, just because I'm familiar with their interface and systems, and it's also a brand I know and trust. I wanted a simple point and shoot camera, with a video setting, and this seemed to fit perfectly. It also has a magic wifi feature, meaning I can wirelessly connect it to an app on my iPhone or iPad to see and download my pictures straight away, which is perfect for on the go blogging.

In terms of quality, it's a fairly good basic camera. Compared to my SLR, not surprisingly, the images don't turn out as well, but in good light it creates fantastically clear and sharp images, and has a flash for when it's a little darker. If you want to have a peek at some pictures from it, take a look at my Dubai post. It was perfect for that adventure as it was small enough to fit in my hand luggage and carry around in my handbag. It even fits in my clutch bag for nights out, which is perfect. Video wise, perhaps my favourite feature is you press the record button in the top right corner and it goes straight from taking images to filming, perfect for catching moments which you might otherwise miss from fiddling around with the settings. It's 'intelligent IS' settings make for extremely smooth shooting too, even when holding at arms length, so would be perfect for vlogging to, if you're that way inclined.

It cost me £129 (Jessops have a  £20 cash back deal), which was perfect for me, as it's not so expensive that I'd feel worried about taking it out with me, I'm happy to pop it in my bag whenever I go out and not fret about it being there. From an aesthetic perspective, I'm really happy with it in that sense too, it's sleek, neat and compact, but if you're after something a little more exciting, it comes in pink and purple too!

I hope this has been helpful, if you have any questions about it please comment below or tweet me @carrie_brighton!
