Hey, guess what? From now on, Fridays are going to be officially renamed as Foodie Friday on this blog! Isn't that exciting! Seeing as Friday is my favourite day, and food being my favourite thing, it only made sense we came to some sort of collaboration on the two. To kick things off, today we're talking about a little restaurant visit I made this week..

I was very kindly invited along to Pizza Express on Jubilee Street in Brighton with a friend to check out the restaurant and sample some of their tasty treats on offer. I have of course visited one (probably more) of their restaurants before (if you haven't, sort it out!), but not this one, so I was keen to go along and give it a go! It's a fairly unusual layout for a restaurant, with an open kitchen, which I thought was a lovely feature, and glass walls both out front and back of the building, making for a bright and airy atmosphere. It has a large terrace for al fresco dining too, but we decided to stay in as it was on the chilly side.

To kick things off, Loz had the Bruschetta Originale "Pizza Express", with tomatoes, red onions, garlic, fresh basil and pesto, which looked rather delicious. I of course had to opt for the classic doughballs, an all time favourite of mine, which as ever, did not disappoint. When it came to mains, we both went for the Romana, a classic pizza with a thin and crispy base. Loz had the American Hot, with pepperoni, spicy peppers and plenty of cheese, and I chose the Il Padrino, with chicken and roasted veg. Both were delicious and resulted in clean plates very quickly! Despite being fairly stuffed at this point, we powered through to pudding where we selected the Banoffee Pie and the Vanilla Panna Cotta, both of which were the perfect end to the meal, light yet rich and creamy and delicious! To top things off we both had a coffee, which was rather nice too!

The service was quick, friendly and attentive (Thanks to our lovely waiter Paddy!) and the actual serving time of the food was very impressive. I loved being able to see into the kitchen too, you can watch the chefs tossing the dough around which was a nice feature! The menu prices are very affordable too, making it a lovely place to go for a treat without needing the excuse of a special occasion. It was a quick and easy meal too, perfect for an evening out with friends or family!
