As I mentioned in Tuesday's post, I feel like I've made a good start with my capsule wardrobe, but it could still use some tweaking. With autumn rapidly approaching and the cooler weather coming in far sooner than expected, quite excitingly, I'm getting to plan in some seasonal wardrobe updates already! If you've been here a while then you'll know autumn is my favourite time of year by far, so although I'll miss the summer, I couldn't be more excited!
My favourite thing so far about the capsule wardrobe so far is how easy it is to select new pieces. With a set colour scheme and a preconceived knowledge of what looks good, I've found I have a better eye when shopping. I recently picked up this new rust coloured top from Madewell, not a colour I would have previously picked, but a great shade to compliment my black, grey and blue colour palette. I also made a sneaky (huge) splurge and treated myself to the bag of my dreams, but I'll be posting more about that later! I've made a good start to updating for the new season, but I do think I've still got a few more purchases to go!
My planned autumn updates are...
Colour: Rust, Ginger, Terracotta, anything warm, orange and gold. It's such a great way of brightening up a neutral palette while staying in keeping with seasonal trends.
Fabrics: I'm falling in love with denim all over again. I'd got into a black denim loop but I'm rediscovering my love for indigo jeans. I love this ripped boyfriend pair from Hollister, and think I fancy a denim skirt, like this one, to add to my setup!
Footwear: After an unfortunate wet-feet incident in London this week I'm totally ready for autumnal footwear. I'm thinking about getting some new Hunter boots too, they are perfect for exploring and I like to keep a pair in my car for spontaneous adventures. My current ones are red kids ones but are beginning to look a little rough around the edges after years and years of wear, so I'm thinking about getting an updated, smarter pair for rainy days in the city, maybe a black pair for puddle splashing!
Accessories: Gold! I'm usually a silver kind of girl when it comes to jewellery, but I'm beginning to find something rather lovely about warmer gold tones for the cooler weather. I love the look of these hoops!
Are you planning any updates to your wardrobe for the coming season? I'd love to hear about your purchases and plans!
