My favourite thing so far about my capsule wardrobe has been developing it through from one season to another. I'm learning about what I love to wear and what suits me and am feeling generally pretty happy with my system. I'll go into more detail on my autumn wardrobe another day, but today I wanted to share some of my new staples for the season. I've entered into a bit of a love affair with tan shades and suede fabrics. The first piece I picked up featured here is my Topshop fedora in a light tan shade, which I absolutely love. It's great as a finishing touch to my usual monochrome outfit choices, and it really smartens things up a bit, especially when I tend to go for black jeans and a plain tee as my day to day uniform. I love the colour too as it really does go with everything!
Getting a little more adventurous in colour is this gorgeous yellow checked scarf from Zara. I say scarf, it's technically more of a blanket. A kind friend gave it to me and it's become a staple piece for whenever I leave the house as not only is it a fabulous scarf, I can take it off and literally snuggle up under it as a blanket. Perhaps the most versatile piece in my wintery wardrobe!
The final two pieces mentioned ended up miraculously matching by total coincidence. For years I've worn the same pair of fabric Blowfish boots in the winter, but sadly this year they finally gave up and went to shoe heaven. I hunted around for the comfiest replacement boots I could find when I laid eyes on and immediately fell in love with these beauties from Minnetonka. I wasn't so sure on them for the first wear, but ever since then I regularly forget to take them off after coming back into the house as they feel so much like slippers! Last but not least are their matching coat counterpart in the form of this beautiful suede jacket from Zara. It's more like a mini trench on my 5 foot frame, which is an added bonus. It's oh-so-seventies and seems to look great over whatever I pair it with. It was a bit of an investment (and by that I mean my wallet made an audible scream when I got it to the till) but it's earning it's weight in gold as it keeps me looking swish AND warm. What's not to love?
